THE POINT OF STILLNESS
Sometimes the Earth herself creates the conditions for something extraordinary to occur. The Equinox is one of them. Today at 8:06pm EDT, the Sun crosses the Equator and enters Libra, bringing us to the September Equinox—the great balance point of the year. For one extraordinary moment in the Earth’s annual journey around the Sun, day and night come into near-equality. Light and darkness stand face to face. Neither dominates. Neither disappears. Each is given its place within the Whole.
We have observed the Equinox for thousands of years. We have built temples around it, created calendars from it, celebrated it ceremonially and acknowledged it astrologically. But I find myself wondering whether we have ever fully understood what the Earth is offering us at these moments. Perhaps we could not. Perhaps consciousness had to reach a certain level before we could recognize that balance is not simply something that happens in the heavens. It is a frequency we can enter. And perhaps this Equinox arrives at a moment when humanity is finally capable of doing exactly that.
