We are deep in Capricorn season and the energy is extra fertile for growth and productivity with a Cardinal Cross this weekend (planets facing off in Cancer, Capricorn, Aries and Libra) that can trigger conflict, but can also activate movement that you can utilize for your benefit.
With Mercury, Mars, the Sun and Venus in Capricorn, it’s time to put things in place that can bring positive returns in the long term with practical actions grounded in reality. This is about having a direction and getting organized to create a framework for moving forward. And yet, a conversation, email, connection or chance meeting may bring a message that illuminates your future (Venus=attraction).
The Grand Cardinal Cross will occur on Jan 10 and it consists of Sun-Mars-Venus opposing Jupiter, and all the planets square Chiron and Eris (a dwarf planet) opposite the Libra Moon. I’ll break it down, as this is an intense initiation and whatever arises is here for your awareness and integration, should you be interested.
Jan 10 – The Sun-Mars-Venus opposes Jupiter. The highest potential for the Sun-Mars-Venus is unfettered authenticity; you are clearer about what you want, less willing to dilute your truth for harmony, and more sensitive to where you have compromised your desires and identity. Magnetism with potential volatility—love, anger, passion and self-definition are all in the mix—and Jupiter amplifies them like a cosmic magnifying glass.
Jupiter calls for growth as well as optimism. You may feel a conflict between freedom and obligations, confidence and caution, new adventures and old security structures. Jupiter wants to be in truth and high ideals, whereas Capricorn planets need to feel secure, often submitting to rules and regulations created by others (authorities). Jupiter is impulsive, Capricorn seeks predictability. As always, the guidance is to create the best of both worlds working together. Stable growth, breaking out of a rut, steady progress, making moves with a practical plan.
The opposition is squared by Chiron (Wounded/Master Healer) and Eris (Goddess of Discord), who are together. Chiron can activate a core wound: rejection, invisibility, punishment for being who you are (too much, not enough). Eris adds righteous anger, refusing to be marginalized or gaslit, willing to speak up, especially in false peace (suppression, being nice).
This Eris-Chiron square is a choice point. If you react from an unhealed wound, you can create upset and burn bridges. If you suppress your truth, you experience fragmentation. When you integrate wounds by feeling and transmuting old hurts into wisdom and compassion, you have embodied authority. Easier said than done, but that is healing work that will set you free.
You are being asked to be able to love yourself, to honor your desires, to act with compassion, stand in your truth and trust yourself. Speak with clarity, rather than force and watch your projections; anyone who feels like the enemy may be holding a mirror. Not always, but inquiry at this level can offer awakenings.
The Libra Moon that completes the Grand Square is only in effect on Jan 10, whereas the rest of the T-Square (Venus, Sun, Mars opposing Jupiter, squaring Chiron-Eris) goes through mid-week. The Libra Moon seeks peace, harmony and balance, and Chiron-Eris in opposition can activate your hurt feelings around security, safety, vulnerability, lovability. Notice what comes up and what calls for attention. Anything that arises has come up to be seen, embraced and integrated, so you don’t have to be a prisoner of old experiences that create distortion for you today. Get help if you need it.
Jan 14 – Mercury opposite Jupiter. This brings positive connections, bright ideas, fruitful conversations and communications, a big vision with a plan, and other ways to expand your world. Brainstorming with like-minded others can be productive, especially on meaningful projects and tasks. A wonderful day for writing, teaching, pitching a project, sales, networking, negotiating contracts and goal-setting. It’s the perfect time to expand your perspective to discover newness and what your tunnel vision has prevented you from seeing.
Jan 14 – Venus sextile Saturn. A nervous system stabilizer, this grounded energy seeks reliability that supports agreements, contracts, vows and commitments. What and who you can count on, monetizing creativity or making it real, bringing it into form. Student-mentor relationships and connections that are enduring. Marriage, engagements, the keepers.
Jan 15 – Venus trine Uranus. This can be shakeup or shift that liberates you from stale energy or an old pattern. Consider this an awakening, if something adds spice to your life, breaks a pattern, or maybe you see new possibilities and take a road less traveled. You may break out of a rut by taking a walk on the wild side. It will be a gift, as you shed that old familiar skin. A change can open new doors or redirect your path.
Next weekend Mercury sextiles Neptune for the final time, the Sun sextiles Saturn, Venus moves into free spirit Aquarius and the Sun trines Uranus. That is all in ONE day! (Jan 17)
On Jan 18 we have a New Moon in Capricorn @ 11:52am PST with Mercury conjunct Mars and Mercury sextile Saturn. Let’s see where we are by the time this new beginning arrives.
