It’s February 29, the rarest of days. When days like this happen, they tend to take us out of time, or at the very least remind us that time is just something we made up… it is a construct, not reality… and that makes it possible to stick an extra day in and call it a thing. It’s done as a “correction”, to make up for the seconds that are lost every day as we try to fit our world into something logical and rhythmic. And here we are, on this very rare day, a day we insist happens every four years… giving some people a birthday that they can’t celebrate every year, and are forced to live entire lifetimes outside of time. (Maybe forced is too strong a word, but I hope you get my point)..
My REAL point is that this time around we find our Selves in the middle of some huge, potentially life threatening events… Climate change has changes everything, and while we were thinking we’d better scramble to do something about it, it snuck up on us, and here we are. The new virus that has already become pretty close to pandemic certainly seems to be connected to this climate change, as are all the very strange, very new weather patterns that are all but threatening life as we have known it for so long.
